Originally from Argentina,
Lucila Gabrys completed a Bachelor degree in Tourism at the Universidad del Salvador in Buenos Aires. Her passion for travelling led her all over the world while working as a flight attendant. Lucila decided to take a new step in her career by leaving her native country and moving to Canada. She attended the Haskayne School of Business at the University of Calgary where she completed an exchange program in the Tourism Department and worked as a research assistant for Dr. Brent Ritchie. Her love of skiing and growing interest in the hospitality industry next saw her travel to USA where she lived in Colorado, Ohio and California while working for a variety of hotels and resorts. After 2 years, she returned to Canada captured by the scenic beauty, cultural diversity, and unique history of Quebec. She selected the great city of Montreal as her home where she spent the next 5 years. Beginning by learning French and becoming a licensed tour guide at the ITHQ (Institute d’Hotelerie et Tourisme du Quebec), Lucila spent several years guiding in Montreal and Eastern Canada with tourists from all over the world during the summers. Her connection and knowledge of South America inspired her to organize her own tours to Argentina and Peru for Canadians every winter. Lucila founded The Explorers in 2009 to offer customized tours to the finest destinations in South America. In 2011, Lucila moved to Vancouver and expanded her company to offer a complete travel service covering all of South America. With over 12 years of experience in the tourism industry, Lucila has built The Explorers on a foundation of honesty, integrity and the exhilaration of adventure travel. Lucila personally visits every destination offered, guaranteeing the latest information on hotels, excursions and other activities is available
to customers.
